I still can't believe I'm writing about my husband running the Portland Marathon. Before starting training in March/April, he hadn't run more than 4 miles! I'm so stinkin' proud of him for not only training for it, which took a lot of time and physical exertion, but for running and FINISHING it by running! And not only did he run it, and finish it, he ran it in incredible pouring down rain. I'm an Oregonian, and I know rain...this was insane! His goal was to finish, not having had an prior experience...but he finished in just about 4 1/2 hours which I think is amazing!
Later that day we celebrated his run at the Cheesecake Factory for some yummy food and great company! The next few days we spent visiting family, heading to the Zoo for the first time with Jack, a trip to Ikea (which we don't have where we live) and just enjoying our last little getaway before the babies come. Our trip to the Zoo was amazing! No meltdowns, no NAP and he was interested in everything! We happened to go on a day where it was super cheap to get in! It was an amazing day!
Trevor was such a trooper doing all that walking and getting up early with Jack and I am so thankful we had this time together. Here are pics of the whole weekend! Before he ran this he said it was a one time deal....not even a week goes by and he's already looking ahead to the next one! I can't believe it!!

My husband ran the Portland Marathon, too. It was his 10th marathon on 10-10-10! My son, Christopher, and I did the 10k family walk. Wish we would have seen you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your husband. That is an amazing achievement. My daughter ran a 1/2 marathon a year ago, and I decided I wanted to do a 1/2, too. Haven't yet, but it is still a goal. Neat post.
