We have always been fans of Jazz, and we have always loved Harry. We were watching the American Idol last season when he was the guest mentor and said to each other, "Now that is a concert I'd want to see." The very next day I saw he was going to be in town! We called for tickets immediately....and I'm glad we did. It sold out that day.
So, we have this awesome place in Southern Oregon called The Britt Festival. It's an outdoor amphitheatre on a hill in Jacksonville overlooking the gorgeous valley. It's quite a treasure here for us. You can pay big bucks for seats up front, or reserved lawn seats or you can do what most people do and that is wait in a really long line and as soon as the gates open, run in and grab the best seat you can. It's blankets only (or seats that sit flat on the ground) and you can bring food and drink in as well! So, we got there about 15 minutes before the gates opened at 5:45pm and got the best seats we could. The show started at 8:00pm and it happened to be a full moon.
So here we are, overlooking the vineyards and the rolling hills of Southern Oregon, watching Harry Connick Jr sing some of our favorite songs, snuggled up under blankets. It was great!
He had tore his Achilles earlier in the day, so he was in a boot with crutches. Because of that he didn't dance around a whole lot and the show was shorter than normal, but it was still amazing. We decided that if he came back, we'd pay for those front row seats. He's incredibly interactive and funny and you miss out on a lot of that if you're up in the hill area :)
But it was amazing, and it wasn't just him and the piano. It was his full orchestra with him too, and some amazing New Orleans legends! They don't allow you to take pictures or video, so I don't have any. But I will post some from the web to give you an idea of what this place was like. I am so glad we got to go. Our prayer team got together and bought us the tickets, it was around the due date of the baby we lost, so it was a gift from them. They are amazing people.
I sure hope he comes back!!
